Effect of Computer-Aided Instruction on Chemistry Students’ Achievement in Organic Chemical Nomenclature in Enugu Education Zone of Enugu State, Nigeria

This study investigated the effect of Computer-Aided Instruction on chemistry students’ achievement in organic chemical nomenclature Enugu Education zone State, Nigeria. One research question and one hypothesis guided study. The design adopted was quasi experimental, pretest-post test, non equivalent control design. sample for comprised 308 students (122 male 186 female) purposively sampled from a population 2,734 SS1chemistry state. instrument used data collection Teacher Made Organic Nomenclature Achievement Test (TMONAT) with 20 items multiple choice test. constructed by researchers validated two experts, department science education mathematics computer (measurement evaluation unit, State University Science Technology, (ESUT). TMONAT achieved reliability 0.87 calculated using kuder Richardson (KR-20). Treatment lasted six weeks. Mean standard deviation were to answer questions while tested at 0.05 significance Analysis Covariance (ANCOVA). Males Females taught computer-aided instruction (CAI). findings revealed that female (OCN) (CAI) almost par their OCN. Gender has no influence OCN CAI. Based findings, it recommended among others Curriculum planners should include CAI as model promotes gender-equity.
